Cycling Without Age

 As I started searching for ways to give seniors and possibly disabled people a way to enjoy the excitement and fresh air of a cycle ride I learned that several years ago, a Dane had the same idea and used a transportation trishaw to give rides to seniors in Copenhagen.  It was so wildly successful that he created a program to formalize the training of pilots, the standards that he wanted to uphold and the dissemination of helpful information from fund raising for the purchase of the vehicle to insurance programs that would underwrite the inherent risk whenever seniors are involved with activities.

One day after a spectacular ride in Port Credit with the Slow Rollers I was chatting with Marah diNola who had trained as a pilot with our program.  She has an effervescent personality and everyone loves being around her.  Out of the blue she stated "you should get the Phil Green award" next year.  I laughed at the notion and retorted that there were many other better candidates than me for the prestigious award that recognizes a leader in the field of cycling and bike infrastructure in the City of Mississauga. This page contains most of the information an aspiring pilot for CWAM will have to be familiar with.  It starts with our first Zoom orientation session for those interested in the program and is followed by the Zoom session we had outlining the 10 skills of a good pilot for all those who had submitted and Expression of Interest form.  I have embedded both these sessions below followed by the Q&A session following the 10 Skills presentation.
