Using and Sharing our CWAM app

To help spread the word about Cycling Without Age - Mississauga, I have created an app that can be installed (saved on home screen) and shared by anyone with a smart phone.  If opened on a desktop, the app will also give you an option to save a shortcut from your desktop.

If you are reading this off your desktop, you can scroll down on the app screen below (which is how you would view it on a smart phone) and scan (or click on) the QR code to save the app to your phone from where you can there share it with relatives, friends, colleagues and care home workers who may be interested in the program.

The first link in the app is to our profile on Canada Helps, a convenient portal for making small donations.   It helps provide tax receipts to individuals who wish to help support our program for a percentage fee.  If you wish to make a larger donation (more than $100) we would welcome a direct donation to save on administration fees.  The first three methods on our website DONATE page will reduce our fees.

The second link is to our website where you can learn more about the program, the pilots, their requirements and training as well as how to reach us.

The series of Social Media symbols connect us to our various presence on the web.  The Vimeo link is to a heart warming documentary on CWA in Denmark called "The Grey Escape"

This next section has links to our various online forms and waivers

The Expression of Interest Jotform encourages you to submit your contact details and interests in our Chapter and how you can help us.  We are always looking for volunteers to help spread the word and help us put wind in the hair of Mississauga seniors and disabled.

For those involved in the Mississauga chapter, this next link to our location on the Book2Go.bike website is for our ride scheduling and pilot graduation software.  All aspiring pilots, co-pilots, care home worker coordinators and supervising trainers should 'Sign Up' on this site and register to our location to help organize our rides and training program.

The Passenger Waiver is a form that needs to be submitted for all passengers.  This may be filled out by the care home coordinator or failing that, the pilot, prior to commencing the ride.

The Pilot Waiver and Acknowledgement should ideally be submitted after training and acceptance of our conditions since it involves some expense regarding submitting the Peel Police Record Check for Level 3 Vulnerable Sector, COVID vaccine status and (for some rides) a negative TB test.  When you create an account with Peel Police, they will send you a code to access your account.  Fill in the form online and pay the $35 fee making sure to ask for the Vulnerable Sector Level 3 clearance.  In a few days you will get an emailed document that you need to submit to us together with your COVID vaccine certificate. If you are submitting your application on your phone, you can sign on the screen and have someone witness for you.  Otherwise you may need to have a touch screen device.

The Facility Waiver document is for coordinators and administrators of care homes to submit on behalf of their residents.

The link button is a direct subscription to our mailing list for friends and supporters of CWAM on Groups.io.  Send in a blank message via the hyperlink above from the address you wish to subscribe to our low volume mailing list.

This link is to our ongoing CWAMississauga blog of our progress. It is also a repository of information such as this guide to using our app.  You can go back into previous posts to see how we have developed from a concept to our first rides.

The last link is to a short video made by Ole Kassow, the founder of Cycling Without Age.  The statistics he quotes are several years old.  The program has now spread to many countries around the world with thousands of trained pilots putting wind in the hair of countless seniors.
